FAQs

Why indoor “box” lacrosse”? Here are three key reasons.

1. Increased touches on the ball in a tighter field space forces stick skill development.

2. Boards to keep missed passes and shots from going out of bounds makes for a fast-paced game that improves reaction time.

3. More physicality for boys in tight spaces forcing offensive players to run through checks and defensive players to drive opponents off their paths.

Who are the indoor training sessions for? We plan sessions for boys U8, U10, U12, U12 Select, U14, U14 Select, and U19. We also plan sessions for girls.

When will the sessions take place? The season will run on Sundays, December 2, 2018 – February 24, 2019 (excluding holiday weekends of 12/23, 12/30, 1/20 and 2/17) between the hours of 9:00am and 1:30pm. (Select teams will also practice on Fridays between 4:30 and 7:00pm starting 11/30.) Each session will be 60-90 minutes long. EXACT SCHEDULE FOR AGE GROUPS

Where will the sessions take place? The winter sessions will be held at Socceroof, a brand new high-end indoor turf facility located on the waterfront in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The facility houses 10 turf fields, restrooms, locker rooms, café, bar, outdoor deck, free shuttle to the subway and parking. The BLC Select teams practiced in this facility before it was fully completed last winter and were very happy with the experience. Socceroof’s address is 14b 53rd St., Brooklyn, NY 11232.

What is the cost? We have partnered with Socceroof to keep costs low. The cost of the Winter sessions is $200 for non-Select teams. The cost of Winter sessions for Select teams will be incorporated into the Winter/Spring season fee. In addition to the cost of field time, the registration fee covers the costs of practice pinnies, equipment, and insurance.

During registration, you may indicate interest in the U12 and U14 Select teams if age appropriate (born 8/31/04-8/30/08); tryouts for the Select teams will take place on 11/30 and 12/2.
